    The primary infrastructure has now been installed the NBN installation happens once you contact any NBN provider and sign up for an NBN plan. NBN helps connects Australia with a multi-technology mix of optic fiber, HFC cable, copper line, fixed wireless, and satellite to provide high-speed broadband and telephone services.

    Different Types of NBN Connection

    * Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

    * Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

    * Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)

    * Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)

    * Fixed Wireless

    * Satellite

    Using the NBN rollout map it will show whether your property is NBN ready and what connection type it uses. These connection types will help you understand what the NBN technician will do on the installation day and if you have to do some preparation.

    What happens during the NBN technician visit?

    - whether you nominate for self-installation, still an NBN technician will visit and require you to connect your NBN service and access your premises. NBN technician will try to connect your premises to the NBN network either off-site or at your property and someone the age of over 18 must be present during the appointment time to complete the connection.

    Your FTTP Installation rights

    * The standard installation is $300 for the first-time connection.

    * The standard fiber installation allows your phone to plug into the NBN connection box.

    * The NBN installation includes a utility box (external), a standard connection box (internal), and an optional battery backup (internal).

    * An existing phone socket no longer work unless the wiring is changed at your own expense.

    * The installation location is determined by safety, existing hardware, and property restrictions.

    What happens when you get the NBN

    NBN will contact you when the network is available, and you'll receive monthly updates on how you can connect to the service.

    1. It is always best to talk to your internet provider and do your early research.

    2. You need to contact your preferred ISP to sign up and discuss contract changeover if required.
    3. A new NBN router may be needed depending on the service, but you must keep your phone and connect it to the NBN connection box.
    4. For FTTP connection, existing phone and internet services will eventually be disconnected.
    5. VoIP phone services will not work in case of a power outage on the new network, not unless you have a battery backup.
    6. Check with your supplier if the home security service needs to be upgraded.
    7. You need to add your medical alarm to the NBN register.

    8. If you're a pensioner, check if you qualify for a discount with your ISP.

    It is always important no matter what connection type you want to avail from any ISP, you must do advance research so you would know every information and be prepared of the things you need to prepare.
